I finished reading The Last Boy and The Mermaid Chair. I didn't really like The Last Boy, I felt there was some underlying sanctimonious themes and that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I also found the book to be incredibly predictable. I did enjoy The Mermaid Chair. It was a fairly good book but not fantastic. I am looking forward to reading The Secret Life of Bees. I have heard that this one is better than The Mermaid Chair. I just started reading Prep and that is so-so. The next BAMF's book is One Hundred Years of Solitude and I can't say that I am jumping at reading this one. Has anyone read any great books lately??? I am looking for suggestions because I haven't found something really intriguing lately...I've been getting some duds!

I think you are going to love Secret Life of Bees. I liked Mermaid Chair a lot but thought SLoB was soooo much better!

I am reading the five people you meet in heaven right now but I wouldn't say that it is great or anything.

I have always loved Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio. It has really great characters and it reads quickly...

Also Gregory Maguire, hes the guy who writes Wicked and all those fractured fairy tales. I think they are great, especially Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister.

I am reading the Memoires of Margaret Thatcher which both entertaining and improving. A sort of two for one package. Looking at your habits ,young lady, it seems to me that some stern factual material is missing from your diet .
It is currently unpleasantly sloppy and needs stiffening...as do we all.
"and that kind of rubbed me the wrong way."

You may rest assurred that my deasrest wish for you is to be rubbed up the right way.

Otherwise I recommend Donnes Sermons and a good cook book . You`ll thank me for this when you are trying to snag that oh so important husband.

Well I feel we are really starting to make some progress here.Think on what I `ve said and I `ll be back soon to see how you are improving

Good Morning!

Just a quick note to suggest "Confessions of Super Mom" (NAL/Penguin, 2006) and "Super Mom Saves The World" (NAL/Penguin, 2007) by Melanie Lynne Hauser are great novels to read and review for Mother's Day.

The Super Mom series about a divorced mother with two teenagers who gains superpowers after a Horrible Swiffer Accident has received great reviews.

"Escape into the world of Super Mom for a few hours...you'll be glad you did". - Meg Cabot, author of Queen of Babble

"Like its title character, this debut novel has a secret identity...it's unexpectedly poignant and packs an emotional punch despite the cheery veneer..." -- Publishers Weekly

If you would like to interview the author in conjunction with Mother's Day, you can email us to schedule Melanie or contact her directly on her website: www.MelanieLynneHauser.com

Also, Melanie has just released a free women's fiction eBook, a complete novel titled "Jumble Pie"...a story of two girls, a friendship, and a pie. Visit www.MelanieLynneHauser.com/JumblePie to learn more and receive a copy.

Happy Reading!
