I am so bummed that I haven't started reading the new book yet! I miss reading at night. Does anyone have any recommendations??? Sorry Jeanette, no Harry Potter for me, I already saw the movies!

We had our Nerd Herd BAMF's meeting last night...always interesting! I enjoyed the book, but had some problems with some of the details. We didn't talk much about the book...no suprise there. The appetizers were fantastic...good job Sarah. I really love hanging at Sarah's pad...it is so welcoming and comfortable. The only negative to this meeting is that Audrea kept spraying me with a water bottle because Suki was clawing at the couch...actually I kind of liked it...so Suki play by me anytime (as long as I can get wet)! I am glad that we have a new member (since half of our existing members never seem to make the meetings and a third of the attendees don't finish the book). Welcome Audrea! Judy is hosting our next meeting (French themed) and we are going to be reading The Little Prince.

Our meeting is right around the corner, and I'm very excited. We have the ingredients for our mojitos picked out, we have Josue serving us for the night, and we actually have most people coming (I think that only Erika and Elizabeth aren't coming). It looks like it might be a good night. It's at Sarah's though so of course it's going to be fun.

Currently Reading: The Jesus I Never Knew. I have to read it for a student I am working with and so far I am not impressed! As it turns out it is the Jesus I knew! It is working through the life of Jesus and I just finished the immaculate conception, movin a little slow through this one! There have been some interesting parts along the way but overall it is kind of like a Jesus self help book. I really hate those. One time I accidentaly read 40 days of purpose by Rick Warren, I will never get that time back!
I am also reading Teaching Community by belle hooks. Not a fun book but a really interesting one. belle hooks (not capitalized on purpose) writes about learning through experience and creating an environment where learning is encouraged. I think she would die if she came to my place of business. Some things we do are really great and encourage learning but then employees get tossed around, not good for learning!
Oh well, I can't wait til book club so we get a new fun book to read!

I am currently reading She's Come Undone (I think I may have mentioned that in a previous post) by Wally Lamb, and I am really enjoying it. I am only on chapter 4 (a little over 50 pages) and I have found that the book is very interesting. The characters are very deep and complicated and very well developed. This book is also an Oprah's Book Club choice...remind me to barf after I finish the book. I can't wait till my house is back to normal so I can actually read on my brand new couch and chair...instead of the bathroom floor!

BAMFS Inc. ?
I would like to expand on Jeanette's idea of selling written work on the books we have read. We could all start reading the classics and then write reports to sell. Nevermind academic integrity and the law!
With the money we make we could donate some and then spend the rest on really good refreshments for our book club meetings.
