Book Club was a success! I was a little nervous becuase the first time I hosted book club it did not go so well. I tried to overcompensate with food:

The menu:

Savories:

Cucumber sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, veggie lavosh, gorgonzola baked potatoes

Fruit:

Fruit salad (to cleanse the palate)

Desserts:

Chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate eclairs and brownie ala mode ice cream pie (thanks Ashley!)

Tea Selections:

Pina Colada, Grape Cranberry, hard tea and cucumber water

Even though it seems the group was not super into Self Help books we did talk about them for a while! One member even came prepared with supplies to help us understand her book. She recommends this book highly!

Another book that sparked interest was about sex, shocking! It was not great and not really recommended by everyone, it got the equivalent of one thumbs up. It required you visualize a lot of sex instead of just doing it!

And last but not least another book that was fine conversation for all was the Strippers Guide. This book taught us throug a series of ten grueling questions, that four of us are Daisy Duke Strippers, and then one classic Betty (I think that was the term) and two who could not count their letters correctly :) I liked this one though, funny pictures like how should you shave yoiur muff and other burning questions answered like how to darken your nipples in the right lighting.
I hope you all enjoyed!

*** I hope you don't mind me adding on Sarah! I thought book club was a riot! We talked about the book a tremendous amont...and looked at my books pictures for a long long time! I really enjoyed all the food, friends and fuck talk...like always! Thanks for making my birthday unforgetable!

For our next book, we are all going to read a romance novel! I am a bit skeptical about the romance genre, as it seems a bit cheesy, but who knows. I would love to read at least one and find out what all the fuss is about!

Seriously, the day you go airstrip or flower shaped, you have to show all.

You did a great job! I had so much fun. And I really feel impowered to know that I am a Daisy Duke stripper and a spatial/chronological organizer. You just cannot put a price on that!

I can't believe you beat me to the post! I am in shock!

I was the Vintage Vamp stripper....get it right!

I thought the muff talk was highly entertaining...the aquatic theme running up between your boobs to your neck...is so erotic!

Great job with the food Sarah Bear! Much better teh second time around!

Is the male of the species allowed access to this particularly female zone? It’s the first time I dragged myself over here and the first word to catch my eye was...”muff”. I thought this book club was designed to be a serious forum for literary debate and exposition. Ladies, I am not impressed.
In all seriousness, I have 2 recommendations for you, both by British writers:
1. The Light of Day by Graham Swift. Swift likes to reflect on death, birth, marriage and sex - as well as the everyday politics of relationships and friendships. via pretty ordinary protagonists
2. The Troublesome Offspring of Cardinal Guzman by Louis de Bernières. It’s funny, erotic and full of intricate sub-plots.

If you’ll have me back, I can offer you plenty more suggestions. But enough of the muff talk. I have a delicate disposition.

I did have a great time. I really liked Elizabeth reading Jenny's porn out loud. (Sorry, erotic literature). I'm leary about the romance novels as well. My nana used to read them (yack!) and we used to pick pages to read and make fun of her. They come highly recommended though, so we shall see.

Stan!:
Thanks for the recommendations! We do actually read ya know! Male access is limited, the only way you can get in is if you can wear a bow tie while holding our coats...with your Mr. Wanky...can you hack it? You can come back, but we can't make any promises about the muff talk!

I am a bit nervous with Romance Novels too...oh, bad thoughts with Nana's book selection! No wonder our Barbies did such naughty things...look at what G'ma influenced us to!

Coatstand, my ass. My heirloom quality schlong is capable of being used in lieu of a dining table. It will accommodate all your guests and is suitable for either a formal or relaxed setting.
You might also take a gander at "The Dark Room" by Rachel Seiffert.

For a romance, try "The Reader" by
Bernhard Schlink. Strongly Recommend it!
